Backports look good to me. I'm happy to hold the nova EOL until after this has been merged. I do worry that a late change like this could be a little disruptive so I wonder if it's worth releasing nova (newton) as is and then again after this has merged that way if we've made a mistake there is a pretty easy work around.
Of course having said that newton *is* EOL so I'd hope that operators are just fast-forwarding through it rather than spending any real time running it. :D
