Same issue on my laptop ( Asus G501VW ) I have installed
"NDIDIA binary driver - Version 367.27 from nvidia-367"

However, while I was searching for a solution my computer with the issue, automatically locked itself (I have set it to lock the screen and turn if off after 5 mins) when I moved the mouse it woke up, but this time, I could see the screen.

I tried this after several restarts and it works, and no it does not work if I move the mouse under 5 mins. So it has to be the screen lock.
