I created a patch and built at test kernel with it, which can be downloaded from:

Can you test this kernel and see if it allows your webcam to work? If it does, I'll submit the patch upstream and to the Ubuntu kernel team for inclusion.

Note that you will need to install both the linux-image and linux-image-extra .deb packages.
