Glad it has been of use to somebody! I may have spoken a little too soon with regards to it re-associating after resume from S3 sleep. Usually it works but sometimes it doesn't. The fix (if it doesn't re-associate) is to restart NetworkManager:
:~$sudo service network-manager restart
I've not worked out why it does this yet (or I'm not clever enough!) but suspect that the new driver will play a lot nicer with GNOME NetworkManager.
