Just found this solution for me so I can reset my finger on the touchpad

sudo modprobe -r psmouse
sudo modprobe psmouse proto=imps

Though it seems like I need to run this after every reboot. So I create a config file in /etc/modprobe.d with the following;

options psmouse proto=imps

But after I restart, it reverts again.
