@ddadap, I just got the blackscreen -> logout bug with gdb attached but this time gdb failed with the following and no backtrace was available, nothing in dmesg:

/build/buildd/gdb-7.4-2012.04/gdb/infrun.c:3189: internal-error: handle_inferior_event: Assertion `inf' failed.
A problem internal to GDB has been detected,
further debugging may prove unreliable.

I was scrolling in browser and full CPU load due to a build in progress (but no busy network activity).
