I have found and fixed the bug which causes the new Cypress Trackpad driver to not work on 32-bit (i386) installs. A new 'kamal3' linux kernel version with this fix is building now in the PPA https://launchpad.net/~kamalmostafa/+archive/dellxps and should be available for update within a few hours.
With this new kernel, my XPS 13 running the 32-bit installation now recognizes the "CyPS/2" device properly on cold-boot and on resume (and it appears to work just as well as it does on 64-bit). 32-bit testers, please advise whether it works for you as well.
(64-bit PPA users will also be updated to the new 'kamal3' kernel, but shouldn't see any change in behavior).
