There's a typo in my previous comment: the working way to find the offending file is:
find ~ -maxdepth $N -inum $INUM
Concerning the Skype files: removing them doesn't work, as they keep being recreated. Instead of removing them, I've now added an empty XML comment <!-- --> to each, which works just fine.
