Thanks Andreas! I do definitely see the journalctl failure on upgrade and do concur with your findings. However, on upgrade I am prompted to restart the multipathd service. I'm wondering why you're not seeing that?

Attached my upgrade logs. The important thing is that at the end of apt update I see

Restarting services...
 systemctl restart multipathd.service
