I had this bug in Karmic, and the fix definitely worked for me. However, I installed Lucid Alpha 3 and the bug is BACK. I know its the same bug because all of the workarounds for Karmic (Firefox disable IPv6, Grub disable IPv6, etc...) fix it in Lucid.
I think people are frustrated because a) this bug is really annoying, b) it took a long time to even acknowledge that it was something that needed fixing, and c) we don't want to see TWO consecutive release version of Ubuntu have unusable internet out-of-the-box.
