In order to get my Sony DSC-H2 working with digikam I must unmount it from
the desktop so that PTP works in Digikam,

I have a basic and possibly naive question:

Why are cameras that use PTP being mounted at all when many photo apps need
the device unmounted to function?

Surely this is a gvfs issue if none of the usual apps can handle these devices in mounted state.......
