Just tested the new package from proposed together with Firefox 127.0.2. Things appear to work just as expected now and I can no longer reproduce the issue. Haven't found any side-effects in other places either so far.

Looks like this is now finally fixed in 22.04 with only a few weeks left before the upgrade to 24.04 rolls out ;)
