this but affects me to. (Toshiba Satelite P100)
$ uname -a
Linux me 2.6.27-9-generic #1 SMP Thu Nov 20 21:57:00 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux

$ lspci | grep -i "wireless"
03:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 3945ABG [Golan] Network Connection (rev 02)

this worked for me to enable wireless again.
$ sudo rmmod iwl3945
$ sudo modprobe iwl3945
