I enable -proposed and do a dist-upgrade, then reboot and run stress-ng:
$ stress-ng --stack 0 --timeout 300
stress-ng: info: [2493] dispatching hogs: 16 stack
stress-ng: info: [2493] successful run completed in 300.63s (5 mins, 0.63 secs)

And the desktop session is still alive.
