Hmm,
we had a similar issue but that would not affect things back until Bionic as you reported it.
That was in bug 1866870 and fixed by a change in seabios. Also you reported Focal as affected wherer I fixed this particular one for sure.
In general the error messages we have so far are not usually very helpful. That is more of a "class of errors" than a specific one to look at. Thanks for attaching the XML and image right away.
In the past this also was dependent on the reporters CPU, so let's see if we can reproduce this for debugging.
