It looks like I did the update wrong. I have updated to the correct version and it looks like the patch was applied. Here is some console output showing two different partition separators:
root@ltc-briggs2:~# ls /dev/mapper/mpath*
/dev/mapper/mpatha /dev/mapper/mpatha-part1 /dev/mapper/mpatha-part2 /dev/mapper/mpathb /dev/mapper/mpathbp1
