Rich: I think the setting is "XAANoOffscreenPixmaps", so "XaaNoOffscreenPixmaps" may not work.
If that still doesn't make the bug go away for you, could you try using a different video driver like vesa or even vga to see if that solves it?
If yes then it's not a bug in mozillah or cairo.
