Using Spreadsheet, Presentation or Writer (Word Processor) when experiencing this crash?

Are you using special themes or advanced graphic effects?

-OOo does not crash on machines using Kubuntu and intel or nvidia video.
-Video card is using using r128 driver -> Xorg.0.log attached (contains AIGLX errors)
-In OOo, a crash can be triggered by a right click, menu button, typing in an empty document, opening an empty document.
-Recovering from crash, OOo re-opens itself automatically and presents the recovery dialog, when trying to recover the document, open office crashes.
-This may be related to bug #209478 or #209478 (private bug which I do not have access to <- subscribe me)

Current workaround:
Going back to Question #6 - Problem was resolved by turning off GUI effects. This was done by going to:
Kmenu > System Settings > Appearance > Effects
and turning off "Enable GUI Effects"

This is a user setting therefore it will affect all users on a machine and they will have to individually turn this off. I would suggest that GUI effects be turned off by default if using this video driver. While the bug is being fixed, if anyone knows how, please provide instructions on how to turn off "GUI effects" for all users on a machine (at once) and by default for new users.
