The system has been updated to alpha-3 and updated since then, up to a few minutes ago. These problems are still happening.
A this point, I am close to give up on testing lucid, in which case I will install Karmic instead and check to see if any bugs have been fixed in that since the release. Hopefully someone will pay attention to this serious bug and others, and I can continue with Lucid.
