Black screen on startup after latest feisty updates

I updated my feisty test installation as I do every day and now X and/or GDM is no longer able to show itself :-( On latest upgrade before this issue, there was some X related packages and GDM.

The system services seems to start OK, but no way to do login, neither on GDM, nor in console. Restarting the system and choosing the failsafe session in grub menu, I tried to check in Xorg log file, but there are no error message, so I think X is able to run, but unable to show anything on screen.

PS I'm not using any restricted driver, while I've a NVIDIA card

mmhh maybe it's a duplicate of 96833 - installing nvidia-glx-legacy seems to work (while at 800x600)

Are you really using the nv driver, or the nvidia one?

Can you please attach /etc/X11/xorg.conf and /var/log/Xorg.0.log ?
