Thanks Fabio Also happens on non-nvidia cards, reassigning to xserver-xorg in general, marking Bug #46767 as a duplicate of this bug, setting as confirmed, and marking as major because it affects presumably all widescreen laptops, widescreen desktops, and regular desktops whose native resolution are higher than 1024x768. I can confirm this happens on Dapper RC, as well as others in Bug #46767.
