Forever it's worth, this problem affects me as well in the "nothing moves" version, i.e. no mouse,. no keyboard, nothing.
I experienced this in Classic Gnome (gnome-session-fallback) as well as in kfce.
I am running an hp with intel i7 cpu, Intel ivy bridge graphic (It has a hybrid graphics board, have not had the crash when using the nvidia during game playing using bumblebee). My kernel is 3.2.0-31-generic #50-Ubuntu SMP Fri Sep 7 16:16:45 UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
I considered Ubuntu/Linux to be a rock solid OS, far superior to anything else out there. Now I must say, my Windows box runs more reliable than 12.04, a very sad development.
I think it's an outrage that this bug is marked as "Won't fix" in an LTS release.
