I also have freeze problem on my laptop. When it freezes, I see Chrome is the last application I interact with.

My detail system:

- Dell XPS 14 Ultrabook 1.7Ghz Core i5
- HDD 500GB, SSD 32GB store ubuntu
- Graphic card 1GB Nvidia 630M

I have the Dell XPS 14 with same configuration but i have the core i7.
Try Linux Mint 14.1 64bit cinnamon it works fine on my system.
The graficcard you can use with bumblebee ;)

I think the freezebug is a kernelproblem with the new generation of intel cpus.
