Same here, X is freezing a couple of times a day, mouse still movable, no clicks/keyboard input accepted, but can switch login on a console via e.g. Alt+F1.

Running on an Lenovo R60 with an ATI Radeon X1400, updated 12.04 from 11.10; system was perfectly stable before the dist-upgrade.

Happy to provide further input if needed, can't find anything suspicious in dmesg, syslogs or xsession errors etc.
