I have been doing this. I can see the video tearing occurring, but have been unable to capture it in a screenshot. Perhaps I am not fast enough in pressing the PrintScreen key. :-)

The picture you attached to this bug report definitely captured the screen tearing problem.

NVidia appears to have the best hardware and driver combination for avoiding video tearing on GNU/Linux. My testing with my 4 year old NVidia 8600 GT video card confirms this to be true. I experience no video tearing at all when using this old video card.

I have hope for the Intel drivers and Sandybridge GPUs because it has been stated that the video tearing problem does not occur in MS Windows.

Hopefully someone from the Intel team will be able to investigate this problem and develop a fix soon.
