It seems that you've got two monitors plugged in - does this problem occur on both monitors simultaneously, both monitors independently, or just one monitor?
Does this still happen if you unplug one of the monitors? (I'd start with the VGA monitor, as I think it's more likely to have problems)
If you *don't* have two monitors plugged in (and the EDID information is suspicious, unless you've got two identical monitors plugged in), then there's at least one problem diagnosed ☺.
