i845 worked O.K. since putting retro on 4/22. Just now booted up was doing an aptitude update with Firefox up and black screened no zebra stripes. ssh worked so tar is attached.
Fatal server error:
Failed to submit batchbuffer: Input/output error
Does not look like the usual GPU lockup.
