So the current status of unpatched linus tree as of 2.6.34-rc4 (and seems also true for drm-intel-next):

Starting the kernel still gives you an unexpected resolution of 848x480.

S-Video is still garbage under system load (not depending on 3d).
I have a git bisect of when this first appeared (0d0884cee3099ec1271a5d379c39b66de1e31923) and reverting that commit on top of 2.6.34-rc4 fixes everything wrt to X (and the X.log says kms is used) but breaks everything else (i.e. console).
And I have no clue on what more I can provide, what I can test or anything.
