I tried the drm-intel-next from git.kernel.org, same problems as before with resolution.
However flickering is not that much anymore. Before if I left it the screen started to jump out of control. Now it almost stops jumping until I do something that changes the screen, starting a movie renders the screen unwatchable.

Attatching a log from this bootup, up and til X has started.
