Oh, I use 'gl' instead 'xv' in my comment. So, I tried to use xv, and got error. There is no xv support for i852/855 due bug #395932.
I've add 'nomodeset' to kernel line in the menu.lst (I use GRUB1 yet), and X.org.los says, that
(II) Loading extension XVideo (II) Loading extension XVideo-MotionCompensation
and
(II) intel(0): Set up overlay video
but
(==) intel(0): Intel XvMC decoder disabled
Anyway, tvtime successfully launched when Ubuntu was booted with 'nomodeset' kernel option
