I just did a fresh install and everytime that I would open a "program" it would total lock on me. I tried reverting to a different video driver, no luck. I just now tried your (Marcelo) idea of disabling visual effects, and it has seemed to work so far....I can open programs now......hopefully they get a fix for this.
