Addendum:

Lucid Lynx Alpha (2.6.32-10-generic kernel)

With a Dell E771a CRT Monitor,

and Intel 82G35 (G3500) Integrated Graphics,

allows up to 1280x1024 at 60 Hz

also 1024x768 at 85 Hz,

however it does not use the proper

specs for that mode.

The monitor goes black or blank.

The Dell E771a preset display modes

include 1024x768 (vesa specs):

Horizontal 68.7 kHz - vertical 85.0kHz

Pixel Clock 94.5 Mhz

Sync Polarity (Horizontal/Vertical) +/+

Resolution:
Horizontal scan range 31 kHz to 70 kHz (automatic)
Vertical scan range 50 Hz to 160 Hz (automatic)
Optimal preset resolution 1024 x 768 at 75 Hz
Highest preset resolution 1024 x 768 at 85 Hz
Highest addressable resolution* 1280 x 1024 at 60 Hz
* Addressable means the monitor will sync up to this mode. However, Dell does not guarantee the image will
be sized and centered correctly.
