To summarize this bug up, I think there is a problem in the coding that allows these intel graphics controllers to read the EDID information from the monitors...I do not know if code needs to be written for each EDID, or how the EDID is designed, but the conflict and solution would seem to lie with the EDID to X programming structure and interface with the video controllers. (trashanken, I suppose the before/after outputs might be useful to the developers...that is if 8.04 LTS is working with your TV today.)
