Kubuntu 8.10 KDE 4.1.3, direct upgrade from Hardy on Dell Inspiron 1300 and Intel Corporation Mobile 915GM/GMS/910GML Express Graphics Controller and all latest updates applied.

With desktop effects enabled there is no chance for the globe to be rendered and the program barely displays properly at all.

With desktop effects disabled, the globe renders correctly however there are still missing fonts here and there.

This is with Google Earth: 4.2.0205.5730.

Enabling safe mode or 16 bit texture colours in the program only makes things worse!
