Just tried the workaround with disabling one CPU core during resume/suspend. I can also confirm that this workaround is working. Have used both hibernate and suspend a few times and it works like a charm. The script mentioned in http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=959712&page=2 works perfect.
