I did pull this one from git as well and it works! Having now 1920 x 1200 with no quirks!

I didn't go back revisions to find out whether this particular checkin or any before did fix the problem though.

Distribution: Ubuntu 8.04
System: Dell XPS-M1330, GM965 using HDMI connector

Have dropped this build here:

If you want to hotfix your Ubuntu 8.04 system make a backup of this file first and replace:
/usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/intel_drv.so

Don't be suprised it says module version 2.2.0, whilst Ubuntu 8.04 has 2.2.1. Master tag of git repository holds 2.2.0 version.
