On my system /usr/share/X11/xorg:conf:d/20-intel.conf did not exist. Creating it with the following content solved the crashes:

me@host:/usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d# cat 20-intel.conf
Section "Device"
 Identifier "Card0"
 Driver "Intel"
 Option "AccelMethod" "uxa"
EndSection

Crashes were consistently reproducible when de-maximizing libreoffice writer
