After disabling SAVE_VIDEO_PCI_STATE as suggested by mjg59 on IRC, suspend and resume works properly. However, hibernate doesn't work at all - system doesn't go into hibernation. The process starts, and after sometime I'm again presented the login box.. And now after resume from system, the power LED is solid green, as expected ..
