I agree that switching back to -i810 is a possible way to resolve the
issue. However, one other aspect to consider:

After installation, we do not have any mechanism to automatically switch
people from one driver to another. -intel may not work as well as -i810
in this particular situation, however -i810 is legacy and no longer
being developed or maintained upstream. Thus, if we stick with -intel
even if it is buggy, at least we can push out future -intel updates from
upstream to users. However, if we revert to -i810 to solve this
particular bug, then that will be the end of it; we'll not likely be
able to supply any further changes for those users.

I talked with Jesse about this issue last week, and he said the Intel
devs were planning a meeting for this week to plan how to solve the bugs
with -intel. I don't expect to see a fix from upstream immediately, but
perhaps within a few weeks.

Given this, I'm on the fence about whether it's a good idea to switch
back to i810. -intel addresses a number of problems, that we'd be
returning to if we switched to i810, and then would really have no
viable way of addressing until Hardy.
