On bug 133118 (also testing this git head driver), they noted the loss of acceleration. Ideally, if it fixed the issue we're interested in, we'd extract the fix and leave out whatever causes the acceleration loss (unless the latter is what resulted in the former).
From the replies I'm uncertain if you guys feel this -intel improves the situation with the gray blocks (aside from any new issues that might come up)? If it does, then it may be worth also testing individual patches; if not, then I don't want to waste anyone's time testing them.
unggnu, since you say you're still seeing gray blocks, I assume the problem is not fixed by this.
