Using xf86-video-i810 v1.7.4 (which is the REAL i810 driver, not the generic intel one) fixed the hanging bug for me.
As far as I have experienced, the intel driver corrupts X memory then X drops mouse and keyboard - making the system unusable
Please spread the word that xf86-video-i810 v2.x (which actually uses xf86-video-intel code) is NOT stable
