description |
About once a day, Xorg freezes on me. Running Xubuntu 12.04 on a dell L502X laptop.
The mouse is still moveable and I am able to SSH into the laptop but suspend/resume or using ctrl-alt-F1 and ctrl-alt-F7 does not work anymore.
I had hopes the 3.2.0-25-generic kernel would bring a fix to this (see bug 975689) but it keeps occurring.
The Xorg.0.log shows:
[ 64680.675] [mi] EQ overflowing. Additional events will be discarded until existing events are processed.

I use the acpi_call module to disable the second GPU (nVidia) as it cuts down the fan noise and saves energy/battery.
I had hopes the 3.2.0-25-generic kernel would bring a fix to this (see bug 975689) but it keeps occurring. Incidentally but regularly (about once every 1-2 days).
