I'm pretty sure that it's not a cable issue. if I use the fglrx driver it works.
I prefer to use the open source drivers though.
I'm not a developer, so take this with a grain of salt, but I think that the problem might be related to the reduced blanking interval required for the resolution of this display.
I have a dual-link DVI cable, but I honestly have no idea whether this video card supports dual-link.
if it doesn't, then it should use the alternate timings or something, since it works with the fglrx driver.
