I just updated to Intrepid and was greeted with a completely white screen when gdm was supposed to show. The computer is still responsive and i can even log in even though i can't see anything, but the screen remains white. I can switch to console and checked the Xorg.0.log - no errors. I have an asus f8va-b1 with a Radeon Mobility HD 3650 video card. the fglrx driver doesn't work and neither does the vesa. Let me know what you need to get this fixed. Thanks. |

I suspect this may just be a dupe of bug 272406, but the symptoms are different, so I think it should be forwarded upstream and let them make the determination. |

Before I forward this upstream, one thing to check. You mentioned having tried with -fglrx; there is a known issue where leftover bits of fglrx can interfere with -ati and cause it to fail, with symptoms not unlike what's described in this bug report.
Can you please follow the steps at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Troubleshooting/FglrxInteferesWithRadeonDriver, see if the issue still exists, and report your findings here? |
