Hello.
I've just tried the Ubuntu 8.10 Release Candidat and the bug is still there.
After the following lines I've got several "green" screens and then nothing.
* Starting System Tools Backend s system-tools-backends [ OK ]
* Starting deffered execution scheduler atd [ OK ]
* Starting periodic command schduler crond [ OK ]
* Starting additional executable binary formats binfmt-support [ OK ]
* Checking pattery state... [ OK ]
I've got a look at the xorg.conf and I discovered it wasn't configured at all. So I configured it manually and now X is running with vesa driver. You can find Xorg.0.log in attachment. This bug already happened with Ubuntu 7.10
My computer is a ASUS X53SA with ATI Radeon HD 2600.
