so now I'm a little bit confused.
One week ago I upgrade to hardy and the problem was also there, so I decided to give it a try going back to last working 6.6.3-2 from gutsy.
But of the problem with unresolved dep in xserver-xorg-video-1.0 I build the .deb from source of snapshot.debian. And now...
... the freeze is also with 6.6.3-2 and same settings from gusty.

Was there any additional patch from ubuntu for the 6.6.3-2 build?

My testing was going from 6.6.3-2 to actual git with and without revert the commits recommended by Alex Deucher in https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13994#c13.
