(btw, you should run debdiff on the source package .dsc files)

Lots of changes happened between these versions. See http://gitweb.freedesktop.org/?p=xorg/driver/xf86-video-ati.git;a=summary to get an idea.

One thing that happened after the 6.6.3 was the handling of the AGPFastWrite setting and AGPMode (see bug #133192). However, if you get the same lockup when using BusType "PCI", this can not be related.
