No, disabling Colortiles doesn't work for me. Although it clearly says that it's disabled in Xorg.1.log:

I still have the same problem. For this test, I used xserver-xorg-video-ati from Ubuntu in 1:6.7.195-1ubuntu2 because I don't expect GIT HEAD to show much difference.
