Yes, I can confirm that if I have 2 working modelines (tested in powerstrip) and I switch between them using
xrandr -display :0.0 -s 1 and xrandr -display :0.0 -s 0 alternately, I can see that initially I get the bug, but after switching I get both modes working fine. Could this be remedied in the newer 6.9 Version available in 8.10 ?
