Chase: I added the debug statements as you suggested. When I'm getting the incorrect behavior the number of touches seen by x-x-i-s is still correct.

Whether I get a left- or right-click behavior when I push down on the clickpad definitely seems to correspond to where my finger is on the touchpad. When it's near the bottom I get a left click, near the middle or top a right click. Horizontal position doesn't seem to matter.
